The Mad Hatter's Tea Party also known as the Tea Cup ride is one of the classics at Disneyland. It was inspired by the very un-birthday party from the movie Alice in Wonderland. The ride is located in FantastyLand near the Alice and Wonderland ride (how convenient). The ride opened with the park in 1955 and the first two years of the ride's operation it had no brakes or clutches so it could spin as fast as you could make it. Imagine!?!
The Mat Tea Party ride has evolved over the years into what it is today. There are 18 cups on 3 turn tables moving across 1 larger turntable. It's quite the Mad Party. Each tea cup can hold up to five people and guests 7 years and younger must have someone with them that is 14 years old.
You can take your picture in one stationary tea cup outside the ride entrance. I love to take pictures so naturally we stop here anytime there's no one else sitting in the tea cup. Close by is the Mad Hatter's shop where you can check out lots of different cool hats. There used to be a lot more to choose from when I was a kid though. There are now two locations inside Disneyland, the other one is on main street.
