Space Mountain has been re-done for Halloween at Disneyland. This year, it's Ghost Galaxy and it is crazy scary (well, to me anyway). My husband said it wasn't that scary, it was just really cool and fun!
I talked to a girl in line before I got on the ride and she said that she thinks Space Mountain is pretty boring the rest of the year, she only likes it at Halloween time. Normally, it's just pitch black and you are racing around really fast, at Halloween, you are being chased by scary things.
The entire ride has this scary ghost made of fire chasing you and grabbing at your space vehicle throughout the ride! Definitely not a ride I would take small children on this time of year. It's pretty freaky the way this thing terrorizes you throughout the ride. I liked it, but I don't think it's something that a small child would enjoy at all. My 12 year old thought it was scary, but still fun, she went on it two times in a row.
My daughter got to go on the ride twice because we go the first time with our FastPass, then we get a Rider Switch Pass for my husband who has the baby and she goes on again with him. We only get two FastPasses to an attraction because we know we can get a Rider Switch Pass which works like a FastPass. People with babies cannot wait in line, so they give you what's called a Rider Switch Pass so that parent can go on the ride when the other parent gets off. Pretty cool huh? This way we can hold two FastPasses for different rides and still get the whole family on. It's not breaking the rules, they allow you do this. They give you the switch pass when you get in line. Doesn't matter which line, Standby or FastPass, they will give you the Rider Switch Pass.
I think one time on this ride for the day is good enough for me, but my daughter loves that she gets to go twice. Normally, if the ride is not scary, we let my husband and son go on the second turn but because this ride is terrifying, she got to take her brother's turn!
At the end of the ride they take your picture, I'm in the second row covering my eyes and my daughter is screaming in terror. I had seen enough, my eyes were closed at this point and it's a good thing, at the end they surprise you with another visit from the scary, flaming, ghoul from hell. Yikes!
Even more funny than our expression, look at the people in front of us! That chick's face is hilarious and the dude looks totally terrified!
