Disneyland has it's own team of dedicated fire fighters to keep Disneyland free from fires. Ever since the park opened in July of 1955, Disneyland has has a fire staff and service at the park.
The first fire truck was a 1954 Willys Jeep with everything mounted to it. Today you will still see a vintage looking fire truck putting up and down Main Street U.S.A. but it's not the same one from 1955. Although the fire trucks are rarely ever used, they are kept clean and cherry looking for their rides up and down Main Street.
The Disneyland Fire Department is well equipped to handle fires, don't let the fancy red engine fool you, it's no novelty. Now that Disneyland has designated smoking areas in the park, the chance of fire has been greatly reduced.
Next time you see the truck coming down Main Street, be sure to wave hello to your community service workers at the Happiest Place on Earth.
