Astro Blasters is a ride in TomorrowLand that features Buzz Lightyear and some of his alien pals. Inside you shoot laser guns at targets to beat the evil Zurg. This is non-stop loading ride so the line moves fairly quickly. We go on this ride more than others because we can take the baby on it with us. The ride moves pretty slow, there's no sudden jerking or drops, you can turn it around 180 degrees to shoot things. You board the space ships and hit targets with your laser gun beam. When you hit the tagets, they light up and you get points. The points you earn are displayed in front of you on a little screen and your partner has a gun and a point screen too. Your points give you your rank in Star Command at the end of the ride.
A 15 minute wait is actually a long time for this ride, it was pretty crowded that day. Normally Astro Blasters is a five minute wait or less. We usually just walk right in, but in the summertime it's crowded.
The little bronze signs tell you about what the ride is like. I wish they told you whether or not babies we're allowed though. I know they are from experience but that would be something they could add to the sign to help others.
The Astro Blasters ride is where the old Mission to Mars to be.
I like the rides that I can bring the baby on, this way the whole family can ride and you don't need a switch pass.
I took pictures of the decor but they are crumby because it's a non stop line, we're always moving and I don't like to hold others up. I do, but I don't like too. Sometimes a girl needs a picture though! Like the ones of the lighting fixtures that I'm obsessed with. I love the lighting fixtures at Disneyland, they are all themed - very awesome! I wish you could buy these fixtures somewhere. The space themed planet lighting fixture is rad!
As you are in line for the ride there are a lot of graphics and things explaining the ride.
This is your mission if you choose to accept it? I have no idea what it all means, I think that was the point?! LOL
As you keep walking through the line, there is a giant Buzz Lightyear explaining your mission on the Etch-A-Sketch. Shoot the little "Z" targets to defeat the evil Zurg! "Sounds easy enough... Thanks Buzz!"
You can seat two people or a small three in each space ship. There are two laser guns to use. Sorry the picture is blurry, it's a non stop moving ride and it was hard to get the perfect shot.
At the end there is a score board that tells you your rank in Star Command.
At the end of the ride you can go to a computer screen and email pictures to yourself from the ride. This is what they look like in your email. How cute right? They are free, just type in your email address and Buzz Lightyear himself will send you an intergalactic greeting that has your picture in it.
