During Christmas at Disneyland, It's a Small World is all decked out. The ride is best at Christmastime, they should leave it this way all year long. It was a lot more entertaining all lit up for Christmas than it is any other time of year.
I took a lot of pictures of this smiling clock with a Santa Hat because what else is there to do in line for an hour?
The shrubbery out in front of It's a Small World was re-done for Christmastime. There is usually two other animals out front, but instead there is what looks to be two balls there in their place. The balls have Christmas lights all over them and at night they are a lot more decorative than they are here in this picture.
During the day the landscaping out in front is one of the first things I noticed going into the rides entrance. I don't remember that horse being there before? A lot of this is new for Christmastime.
As you can imagine, it's very hard to get pictures inside a moving boat on this ride, we did the best we could. Here are some shots from the inside of It's a Small World during Christmas.
Can you name all the countries these wreaths represent? Leave me a comment and let me know. There are 13 of them hanging up on light poles as you are walking up to the ride. Have you ever noticed them before?
They have done more since the last time we were here. There is more decorative Christmas decor up around the Disneyland Castle. All the flowers have been changed out throughout the park to poinsettias and there are wreaths hanging up all around.
It's been a couple weeks since we have been here, exactly 15 days to be exact. In that time, a new map has come out! A new Disneyland Winter Map for 2013. We didn't get a chance to go to California Adventure yet, so hopefully next week! The cover the map has the newly decked out Disneyland Castle with snow and lights.
It's November 1st and the snow is already on top of the Disneyland Castle. WOW! Not even Thanksgiving and we're already putting up the Christmas decorations!. I suppose it takes a really long time to get everything set up so they have to start in November. Halloween is just finishing and the snow is up on the roof tops of Sleeping Beauty's Castle.
Naturally, the Mad Hatter has exactly what you would expect to see inside, a lot of hats! They have Ear Hats and ball caps, baby hats and more. The whole decor makes you feel like you fell in the rabbit hole from Alice in Wonderland.
There are some new ear hats added this year, one of those is this Evil Queen ear hat from Snow White. It features the Evil Queen's crown and the poison apple on one ear and the bite taken from an apple on the other. Not sure I like that? I like the hat, but I wish they did something with the apple that is bitten, it just seems odd having two apples on the hat, maybe it's just me? I love the overall style though.
Another Minnie Mouse Ear hat that I have been seeing around the park a lot is the Cinderella Minnie Mouse ears hat. It features her slipper in the center, the pumpkin coach on one ear and the clock about to strike midnight on the other. I'm not sure if I like the extension of the mouse ears into Princess, Queens and such. I hate trying to figure them out and the like I said, the Evil Queen one just looks weird with two apples on it. I don't want to walk around with apples on my ears.
If I had a million dollars, I think I could spend it in a day at Disneyland. They have the most beautiful things, I want to dress up every little girl I know in one of these dresses. The quality of these Disney Princess dresses is way better than your average costume quality. The details in the fabrics they choose are exquisite, what girl wouldn't feel like a Princess? Do they have a Women's size 8 in the Ariel dress? If Disney made adult sizes in these, I bet they would sell!
Inside the store they had every princess you could think of, except Sofia, not sure why? I even asked where Sofia the First costumes were and they said they didn't have them. I did see some toys on the shelf, so it's not like they were anti-Sofia? Oh well, this is not the place to go if you want a Sofia the First princess costume. They had all the others that I could see, Snow White, Belle, Ariel, Rapunzel, Merida, Sleeping Beauty, etc. All the regulars were there.
Disney Princess Costumes for Girls
If you can't make it to the park, and you want your little girl to have an Official Disney Princess Costume, you can buy them online through the Disney Store. At Halloween time, they go on sale if you happen to be shopping for a costume at the time of year. Here are just a few of the most popular Disney Princess Costumes.
Little Mermaid Costume
My daughter wanted the Little Mermiad Ariel Costume but alas, not today Samantha. I do want to eventually take her to the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique so she can have the Royal Princess Treatment but today is not that day.
Behind the register they had Sleeping Beauty Princess Costume and the Rapuzel from Tangled Costume. They also had accessories to go with those costumes, like the crown, wand, shoes and gloves. Some of the costumes have wigs, jewley and handbags to match. I could easily drop a lot of cash in here, everything is just so shiny and pretty! Every time I walk in here, my husband is glad the two younger children are boys!
Sometimes you can see Storm Troopers roaming around outside the Star Tours line. Most of the time they will not stop and take a picture because they are just passing through, but my daughter is very persistent and chased them down and begged them to take a picture with her brother. The guy kept shaking his head "no" of my daughter wouldn't accept that answer and so eventually she came in and let her take a picture of her brother with him.
As we were getting on the ride, my daughter saw another Storm Trooper and chased him down for a picture inside the line. If you want a picture with the storm trooper you need to be very persistent because they just keep walking by. It's not because they are being rude, I think that is the general attitude of the Storm Trooper. If you have ever talked to some of the other characters like the wicked queen and from Snow White or Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas, you will some notice that the personality of certain characters is meant to be rude. It comes off as a very rude personality but really they are just in character. I've often wondered how many times somebody was offended by the fact that these people were in character. I know one grandmother was very upset that the storm trooper cap walking by when she wanted a picture, I told her that they are in character and that they usually don't stop unless you're very persistent like my child.
How do I get a picture with a Star Trooper at Disneyland?
If you're coming to Disneyland in your child really wants a picture with a Storm Trooper, my best advice is to hang out in front of Star Tours, in the Star Trader store, or in the line of the ride and keep your eyes peeled for one of them walking around. The Storm Troopers are always a roaming around and if you see one be sure to take your picture with him even if he says "no". How you ask? Don't take "no" for an answer, just get in front of him and start posting and have someone ready with a camera and I promise you he will stop for the picture. They only seem rude because they are in character, they are not supposed to be social 'cause they are soldiers of Star Wars. What kind of soldier would they be if they stopped to take pictures with little children? Would Darth Vadar approve?
The Disneyland First Aid Office is located at the end of Main Street U.S.A. by the Baby Center.
Inside the First Aid office they have real registered nurses working. The one that helped us was very sweet.
So, if you ever need an eye glass kit or some help with a lose screw in your eyeglass frame, head over to the First Aid and they are happy to help!
