How Much for Lunch / Dinner at Big Thunder Ranch BBQ?
Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue Menu
One of the coolest places to eat with kids at Disneyland is Big Thunder Ranch barbeque. It's an all you can eat barbeque place inside Thunder Ranch that has good food and entertainment for the kids.
Notice that they do not display the prices anywhere? My mom always said, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it!" Well, this place isn't that bad but it is a little higher than most places because it's all you can eat barbeque, it's brought to your table by a server and there is live entertainment. I think personally that it's only worth it if you are really, really, really hungry. It's not for the light eater.
How Much for Lunch / Dinner at Big Thunder Ranch BBQ?
The Big Thunder Barbeque Ranch menu is different for lunch and dinner and so are the prices. I personally love the smoked sausage so I'm all about going at dinner time. Plus, you want to have a big appetite when you go, so by dinner time, after walking all day at Disneyland, your appetite is pretty big wouldn't you say? It's only $3 more per adult at dinner time. With dinner you get smoked sausage and it's not as hot as it would be during the day. We went in June so we definitely went later in our day to avoid eating in the hot sun.
The whole meal is a family style sit down supper. If you are a small party you may be be asked to sit with another family if it's crowded. We were able to get our own table in the shade because it wasn't too bad that day. You sit at picnic tables that do have shade canopies over them. There are trees all over, that helps keep it cool and authentic looking at the same time. There is a big stage in the center where the ranch owners come out and sing.
As you walk to your table you will find that there is a lot of decor to make the place seem more ranch style.
We were seated at the picnic benches closest to the restrooms and exit. That was nice because we brought our stroller in. If it's crowded you probably have to get a high chair, but it wasn't this day.
We didn't have a very good view of the stage where the entertainment was because we didn't want to share a table. All the tables near the stage were taken already. The first thing they did was take our drink order. They brought them to us in mason jar style glasses.
Food is served family style and brought out in buckets to you. There is two pieces of corn on the cob per person and one cornbread person brought out to start. You will also receive enough coleslaw for one serving per person. It's an all you can eat dinner but they only bright out so much to start. If you want more, let your stable hand know right away because sometimes it takes a little while to get more.
You will also get two pieces of each meat per person to start. Two ribs, two chicken pieces and two smoked sausage pieces. It comes all in one bucket. You will get a bowl of barbeque baked beans too. A bucket of meat!! It's like a dream come true for a carnivore like myself.
Here is my plate, no need for coleslaw and beans right? Just show me the meat and carbs and get out of my way!!
For the price you get food, entertainment and someone serves, that's not bad. It is Disneyland folks! I like the food here, it's better than most of the food you get. I think on the Disneyland side of the resort, this place is my favorite. People always ask me "Is Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue worth the price?" .. it depends how hungry you are. If you want to sit down, relax and eat all you can, than yes, it's a good value for the money. If you want something quick to eat and don't mind waiting in a line and serving yourself, it's not. We had two adults and one child and our total was a little over seventy dollars. That's a lot of money for three people to eat but it was good food and we like the environment and entertainment.
Big Thunder Ranch BBQ Live Entertainment
What's cool about the entertainment here is that they sing to you and sometimes bring the kids on stage. They sing lots of Disney tunes that kids are familiar with like "You've got a friend in me" and a lots of others. It's all sung with a country ranch folk style. Here is a video I made of them singing, it's just a clip to give you an idea of they sound like and what the atmosphere is like. It's nothing special, just a video I made, it's not going to win 'Best Picture of the Year.'
Besides the entertainment there was lots of cool decor. Even the bathroom was pretty cool looking. Just having a place to go to the bathroom was very nice because a lot of places inside Disneyland do not. You have to go elsewhere to use the facilities in most places inside the park.
Splinter free toilet paper too! How nice of them right? This was a cute sign, made my husband chuckle. To me, just the fact that they had a restroom that was just for customers was nice.
What I love about Disneyland is that they fully immerse you in the theme of whatever you are doing. I say that a lot because it's so true. All the little details they go to in order to make you feel like you are in another place is totally amazing. I wish that California Adventure had more of that style.
We will have to come back when they have done the Summertime decorating because I'm sure this is all just their Springtime decor.
